David McGuinty must condemn American/Israeli bombings of Iran

We must not support another illegal war in the Middle East

On the first day of the war, 165 girls in Iran were killed when an American missile hit their school1. American and Israeli bombings are a dangerous escalation that risks dragging the entire region into a major conflict.

Two days later, Defence Minister David McGuinty (MP for Ottawa South) and Mark Carney publicly supported these American and Israeli bombings of Iran.

The Liberal government's position on the US-Israeli attack on Iran is unprincipled and contradictory. Mark Carney himself says Donald Trump's strikes on Iran appear to be "inconsistent with international law"2 but supports this act of aggression anyways3.

Canadians don't support this. Some Liberal MPs have listened to pressure from their constituents and spoken out against this illegal war4. Sadly, David McGuinty has taken a different path and defended Trump's strikes publicly.

Canadians want peace, not party politics. Death and destruction create scars on humanity. David McGuinty, as Defence Minister, has a responsibility to stand for peace. We need to speak up so he can feel the pressure, as other Liberal MPs have.
